The Ronin Helmet — Samurai Design by Adam Taylor

Ronin was the design that changed everything for Ruroc — and for me as an artist.

I created this black and gold Samurai-inspired helmet as a limited edition for the launch of the Ruroc ATLAS motorcycle helmet. Drawing from traditional Japanese art, I wanted the design to feel powerful, honorable, and deeply connected to the warrior spirit.

From the very first sketch to the final production, I handled every aspect: the concept illustration, the detailed dragon and mask artwork, and the entire launch campaign, including all the imagery and marketing direction.

When we launched Ronin, the response was explosive — so many people rushed to order it that the website crashed within minutes. In the first 24 hours alone, the design generated over £1 million in sales, instantly cementing Ronin as a defining moment for Ruroc and setting the standard for my future design drops.

Concept Design Work

This early concept sketch shows how I carefully integrated the flowing form of the dragon with the aerodynamic lines of the helmet. Every detail — from the ornate Samurai mask to the gold accents — was crafted to feel dynamic and directional, so the design moves naturally with the rider.

Creating Ronin was more than just a design project; it was a passion project that set the stage for a new era of bold, artist-led releases at Ruroc.

“Ronin was a game-changer for us. Adam’s vision and attention to detail set a new standard for what our helmets could be — an instant classic that riders still talk about today.”
